It was such a pleasure to work with Dominic for his senior photos this year! It can be so awkward to have your picture taken: to have the photographer in your face with her camera, to have your mom and the photographer analyzing every small detail of how you’re sitting, what your face looks like, what your hands are doing… but Dominic weathered it all calmly. It didn’t take long for him to relax and get into the groove of being photographed, and I absolutely LOVE how his gallery turned out! He was honest about what felt natural and what felt weird as we tried various poses, and I think that in the end, his pictures really captured an essential part of who he seems to be. He’s relaxed and casual, and I appreciated the urban backdrop paired with his simple outfit. He photographed beautifully, and I hope he and his friends and family will be pleased with them. I’m so excited to share these with you!
Fun side note: I used to teach with Dominic’s mom, and so Dominic was one of my students back when he was in elementary school! I hadn’t seen much of him during his middle school and high school years, so it was really fun to catch up with him all this time later. As a teacher, your students often freeze in your memory as whatever age they were when you taught them. What a surprise to find him so grown up!
I just love this next series of photos. We found the coolest little section of wall in downtown Kalamazoo that played beautifully with his black shirt and reddish-brown hair. He’s such a rock star in these images! If he’s not already in a band, I feel like he should start one.
More brick… but I can’t help it! There are so many great places in Kalamazoo!
We loved playing around with Dominic’s black shirt against this black brick wall! Very fun.
Dominic, best of luck to you in your senior year! Thank you again for working with me and for taking such fabulous photos.
