With the arrival of their son Jameson’s 18 month mark, this family knew they wanted to do a little something extra to capture this special time in their family’s life. We met in downtown Kalamazoo on a beautiful spring evening for a Family Session. Jameson warmed to me quickly and I was delighted by how easily HE was delighted by things! His happy smiles graced my viewfinder during our entire hour together, and I left the shoot feeling very uplifted by his lovely personality and his family’s love for each other.
Jameson’s Mommy and Daddy are so completely smitten with him, and it’s something I just love to witness. Their joy and love came through in the pictures I took, and editing this gallery was an absolute pleasure for me. With each new picture on the screen before me, I found myself smiling at their happy little boy and their obvious joy in raising him. What a lucky kid to have such loving parents!
I don’t often get requests for urban photo shoots, but I absolutely LOVE it when I do! I can’t get enough of this gorgeous brickwork downtown! Such a fabulous backdrop to these images.
It isn’t always easy to photograph a busy 18 month old, so you really have to be on your toes and ready to capture whatever is happening. I think I got super lucky with lots of beautiful smiling images of Jameson, but some of my favorites are the unplanned ones of him in action. What a special age. <3
The best thing about this age is that absolutely everything is the best adventure they’ve ever had. My husband and I miss this about our now-almost-six-year-old-daughter very much. There is just so much awe, wonder, joy, enthusiasm, curiosity and amazement about everything they encounter. I loved getting to spend an hour remembering that with Jameson. <3
As this family continues their journey toward having a two-year-old and beyond, I just want to wish them the best as they face all the ups and downs, smiles and tears, happy days and hard… and to remind them that it’s all worth it! Being parents is the best adventure there is! Enjoy it, because although the days are long, the years truly are short, just like they say, and it all goes too fast. <3 Here’s to you guys!
